Billy Ray Messimer passed away August 3, 2017. He was born October 26, 1933 in
Winnsboro, Texas to William E. and Letha Phillips Messimer. At an early age the family
moved to DeKalb, Texas. Billy graduated from DeKalb High School in 1952, where he
was an outstanding football and basketball player. After high school he joined the US Army and served during the Korean War. Billy married Peggy Welch, his high school sweetheart, and the love of his life. They were married 62 years. Billy was a 32nd Degree Mason as well as a Shriner....

Billy Ray Messimer passed away August 3, 2017. He was born October 26, 1933 in
Winnsboro, Texas to William E. and Letha Phillips Messimer. At an early age the family
moved to DeKalb, Texas. Billy graduated from DeKalb High School in 1952, where he
was an outstanding football and basketball player. After high school he joined the US Army and served during the Korean War. Billy married Peggy Welch, his high school sweetheart, and the love of his life. They were married 62 years. Billy was a 32nd Degree Mason as well as a Shriner. Billy worked 12 years for Crane Supply Company before going to work for Dillard Associates, as a manufacturer's representative, and he retired after working there for over 30 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Peggy. He is survived by two sons and their wives, William Boyd Messimer and his wife Rita and Phillip Harmon Messimer and his wife Michelle; three granddaughters, MaryKate, Rebecca and Caitlin.He is also survived by two sisters, Patricia Hamilton and her husband Mel and Peggy Hobson. Funeral will be 10am, Tuesday, August 8, at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home, 10501 Garland Rd, Dallas, TX. 75218. Burial will be Woodsmen Cemetery in DeKalb, Texas. In lieu of flowers, make donation to American Cancer Association or Casa Linda United Methodist Church.
