Lee Roy Ivey, Sr. passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on September 10, 2017. Born February 26, 1924 in Stille, LA., Roy grew up in Vernon Parish, LA., and graduated from Simpson High School in 1941. He attended Louisiana "Normal" College in Natchitoches, LA. Roy married Arcola Miller in 1943 and enlisted in the Marine Corps that same year. He served in the South Pacific, Iwo Jima and Japan and returned home in 1946. Lee Roy Ivey, Sr. passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on September 10, 2017. Born February 26, 1924 in Stille, LA., Roy grew up in Vernon Parish, LA., and graduated from Simpson High School in 1941. He attended Louisiana "Normal" College in Natchitoches, LA. Roy married Arcola Miller in 1943 and enlisted in the Marine Corps that same year. He served in the South Pacific, Iwo Jima and Japan and returned home in 1946. Roy had been in the lumber business since 1947 and moved to Dallas where he was a prominent businessman in the White Rock area. He was an owner of Ivey Lumber/Ivey Building Materials from 1956 until 2000. He served in area churches as Deacon including, White Rock, Eastern Hills, and Casa View Baptist Church where he was currently a member. Roy was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Wesley Ivey, mother, Beulah Pricilla Kirkpatrick Ivey, brother, J.D. Ivey, sisters; Vonnie Ivey Scott, Bessie Ivey Rea, and granddaughter, Yvette Ivey. He is survived by his loving wife of 74 ½ years, Arcola Miller Ivey; son, Roy (Bubba) Ivey, Jr. and wife Teresa Ivey, son, Charlie Ivey; daughter, Suzanne Wolverton and her husband Kenneth Wolverton all of the Dallas area, brother, Carl Ivey and wife Barbara Ivey; Grandchildren, Jason (Clara) Ivey, Shaunna Adams, Chase (Colette) Ivey, Chance (Ashley) Ivey, Ryan (Jessica) Springer, Kristin (Josh) Pierson, Michael (Devin) Wolverton; 15 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Grandchild and countless nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
